Description
This was an experiment in every sense of the word -- I played off of a photo I saw floating around Reddit, and wanted to try to make a slightly out-of-focus background behind the woman in the foreground. Since it was a photo, using the eyedropper tool to color it wasn't an option, so I also decided to try 'coloring' it in using only greyscale, forcing myself to think about what each shade of grey was supposed to represent. The girl was also supposed to help me practice drawing long, flowing hair, but instead she went and got a pixie cut. Very inconsiderate of her, if you ask me, but she does wear it well.

Originality Technique ImpactAfter reading you comment on the picture I must say I can see what you were going for. The off focused background was implemented with the glass windows, making it blurry really gives the impression of distance. As for the shading, the many shades of grey you used really make this setting dimensional. Personally, I would have given a little more shading to the small hairs above her forehead. It would have made her head and face more dimensional too. The body is well proportioned. This was a reference drawing and I can say, this was captured amazingly well. Congrats.
