All Dressed Up...

Description

It's a little late for Halloween, but right on time for N7 Day -- Given that Mass Effect is one of my favorite game series, I figured I'd have The Engineer and The Robot do a little cosplay in their own way. In my head, The Robot couldn't get makeup to match EDI's skin tone to stick to her skin, so she just had to roll with a mismatched face and hands. And I think this is her first documented smile, to boot. The Engineer, meanwhile, is trying to grimace in homage of her Renegade Shepard (who, in all actuality, would still ave more paragon points than Ghandi. She was mean to Kaidan once and felt terrible for days).

And yes, the cat is dressed as Grunt.

The colors may be dicey -- they were chosen using an eyedropper and photos or screencaps I found online.

Kitty Grunt! :D Mass Effect is one of my favourite series, too. :) I've tried going through the games with a pure renegade Shep a couple times, but some of the choices forced me to do really terrible things (I like my Wrex, thanks), so I ended up with a lot of random paragon points at the end... anywho, this is a nice tribute! I like the addition of the omnitool -- it helps distinguish her class -- though it seems a tad long, and the lines on the inside are a bit shaky. I think the overall colours in this piece are fine. At first I was like "EDI has blue skin!" but then I read the description. :P No need to worry there.

To me, the eyes on The Engineer are pretty large compared to the rest of her face. Stylistically, I can see it working, but the size of the irises almost defy even anime proportions. Scaling it down just a tad would make me personally more at ease, although in the end it's your decision. ^^; Also, for the N7 armour, the arm and shoulder plates (and the one on the knee, too) appear rather blocky, which gives it the impression of flat paper-like cutouts rather than something closer to metal that would curve to the shape of the body. Applying shadows (and highlights on the red strips, if you go that direction) could help that.

Overall, good concept! The art gives me a lot of nostalgia, and it's pretty faithful in its rendering. Your linework has definitely improved since I last saw it. Still a little wobbly in spots but it should smooth out over time the more you draw. Keep it up!
